climbing trees

we are never too old
for trees
for the young delight we find
in climbing them
even now I judge maples
by their ascend-ability
and by the view
through the leaves
straddling long boughs
like leafy-maned mares
we ride through skies
of summer and youth
lean back and look high
let yourself fall
let yourself fly
but above all
climb

  1. you made my heart sigh
    i look at trees the same way
    too long since i climbed

    This was wonderful. I was swinging yesterday looking around at all the trees and, just as you say, eyeing them for their ascendability! Time to take the next step. 🙂

    Thank You and Cheers!

  2. Thank you all! 🙂 The urge to climb trees never died with childhood. It’s gratifying to see that I’m not the only one!
