an early snow this year
icy and hard, it woke me –
hissing and insistent
through the crack in the sill
the dogs both dig deeper
into my side, settle once more,
and sigh – little heart-furnaces

The weather this year has been hard on the dogs and little Angus especially is feeling his age lately. But it’s amazing what comfort a dog can bring into a life – and I am blessed to have both of them for as long as I may.
My newest chapbook Wandering Wonderful is now available for pre-order from Finishing Line Press. Pre-orders through March 22nd will have an opportunity to win a canvas print of the cover art. Click for details!

What sweet dogs! (They look like yin and yang nested in their basket. ❤️☯️ ) I wish them good health for many years to come. And may warmer weather arrive soon.

Thank you! ❤ They certainly are inseparable. You'd never know I have two dog beds – they're only ever in the one together.

Lovely contrast between the hardness of the snow and the warmth of the dogs. They’re adorable.

Lovely. 🙂
I hope your book arrives soon, I suspect it has probably nestled itself somewhere at customs…

Thank you, Val! The book isn’t scheduled to print until May, so we’ve got a bit of a wait yet. This is the pre-order period, which gives them an idea of how many copies to print when the book does drop. Sorry for any confusion!
