today I would trade my squelchy shoes
and sodden self for warm dogs
and ticking radiators, steaming mugs
of freshly brewed, nearly obscenely
creamed coffee – there’s even, I think,
a donut on the kitchen counter
with my name on it saying stay in!
but instead it’s frizzled hair,
unending responsibilities, and rain
that managed to drip everywhere

Squelchy Mondays are the worst.
Well we wanted an end to the drought…so now we have to live with the consequences of having prayers answered. 🙂 Enjoyed your verse…made me smile.

What fun…and the shoes go squelch..squelch…squelch…(mine are still saying crunch….crunch…crunch).

I shouldn’t laugh, but “squelchy Mondays are the worst” has to be the best line I’ve heard in a LONG time.

glad you laughed! it’s been such a Monday and to have squelchy, wet shoes on top of it just is the icing on the cake 🙂

Yeah, I guess I should be grateful the sun is peeking out here. It’s still funny, thanks.

Such a good word – squelchy!!!
And to find it in a poem is even better 🙂

that’s gloriously enjoyable Sarah – love the ticking radiators, the nearly obscenely creamed coffee and that conspiratorial donut!
